Waterford Museum of Treasures, The Quay, Waterford City

The Museum of Treasures is both a treasury and treasure trail that takes you through 1000 years of history of Ireland’s oldest city. The treasure trail and personal sound guide allow you to encounter the past at your own pace, to stop and marvel at the rare and beautiful artefacts and to explore them in depth through a series of interactive and audiovisual presentations.

Edmund Rice Heritage Centre, Barrack St., Waterford City

Experience this new interactive museum and visitor centre dedicated to Edmund Rice. Live the Edmund Rice story through an atmospheric and interactive experience; see where Christian and Presentation Brothers and their colleagues respond to the greatest needs in the World; and pray at the tomb of Edmond Rice in a new chapel named for him.

Reginalds Tower – The Mall, Waterford City

A tower has stood on this site for over a thousand years. The present structure from the 12th century with a second phase in the 15th century, is the oldest urban civic building in the country.

The Copper Coast UNESCO European Geopark, Bunmahon, Waterford

Discover the ancient story behind the formation of the rock, cliffs and inlets of this spectacular coastline. It is a place rich in mining heritage, geology and archaeology and home of the National Nature Reserve Fenor Bog.

Lismore Castle Gardens and Art Gallery, Lismore, Waterford

The castle gardens are set in seven acres within the 7th century outer defensive walls and have spectacular views of Lismore Castle. The west wing of the castle has been converted into a contemporary art gallery.

Mount Congreve Gardens, Kilmeaden, Waterford

A beautiful eighty acre garden consisting of extensively planted woodland, 2000 different rhodendrons, magnolia walks, a Camellia collection and a Georgian green house.

Tourin House and Gardens – Cappoquin, Waterford

Situated 3 miles south of Cappoquin, the main house was built in 1840 in the Italianate style with a magnificent hall and staircase. The original tower house still stands surrounded by mature trees and a walled gardens.

Stonehaven equestrian centre is very close to the city centre of Waterford.

    Gaelic Games

    are our native sports including the thrilling game of Hurling, famed for its break-neck pace and exciting encounters. Gaelic Football, Camogie, Hurling and Ladies Football are played in every town for at least nine months of the year. Why not experience the excitement and thrill of great club and county rivalry first hand by going along to any of the local Gaelic Games events held throughout the region.     The Nire Valley, Co. Waterford has terrain to suit every grade of walker from complete beginner to experienced mountaineer.
